So this is a little different to other things I’ve published, but I’m sharing it here because it’s still tabletop-related.
I play a lot of Pokémon TCG with my kids - my son in particular. One thing we’ve found is that the damage counters get quite fiddly and easy to lose, and special conditions get difficult to track properly.
To help make this easier, I decided to make a digital tracker for all of it. In my traditional style, I went way overboard and made a Whole Thing out of it.
So, introducing:
Pokémon TCG Companion
The TCG Companion is a digital table to track Pokémon, damage, and conditions for two players on a single device alongside your physical games. No counters or tokens needed.
It is optimised for use on a tablet, but works well on any device.
I find the best way to use it is to load it up on a tablet and place the tablet on the table in between the two players.
The TCG Companion features include:
-
Fully laid out and customisable board with active and bench cards.
-
One side of the board inverted for double-sided play (with an optional rotation button included).
-
Features to track names, damage, and conditions on each card.
-
Autocomplete when entering Pokémon names.
-
Buttons to switch cards to the active spot or knock them out.
-
A coin for each player to flip as needed.
-
A movable on-screen keyboard for each player, allowing simultaneous typing.
-
Local memory to continue an existing game on each device.
-
Single-click game reset to start fresh.
-
Fully-accessible frontend, meeting WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards.
This isn’t a replacement for a physical game as it doesn’t include the actual card details, prize cards, discards, or your deck. It is intended to be used alongside your physical games to replace the need for using the little damage counters, coins, and condition markers.
You can find the TCG Companion here:
I hope you find it useful!
If you like this and want to help me out with a public rating or review, you can do so on the Itch page - I’d really appreciate that!
